BOUQUET |
This is a forward, generous style and the bouquet is intense, full of dark berries and oak spice. |
PALATE |
Full, rich and round this wine maintains a degree of elegance - held together by drying tannins and lovely natural acidity. In youth the 2008 Dark Side appears dense and savoury with some leather and spice alongside dark plum fruit. The wine fills the mouth, flavours build and then finishes with great length. |
GENERAL |
A season to test us, 2008 was exceptionally early and then we were hit with a heatwave in mid March. Our shiraz vineyards were fortunate to be picked before the heat set in, producing exceptional fruit with great chemistry and speccy flavour profile. We have bandied the term 'monster' around for this one...in the positive sense only of course! It certainly is no shrinking violet. |
SERVE |
Showing signs of great cellaring potential (8-10 years) I'd suggest something chewy and rich with this...slow braised shanks with mash should do it. |
