| BOUQUET |
Possessing a lively, youthfully lifted bouquet the 2008 Joshua Tree Riesling shows more tropical fruits (think pineapple and guava) and blossom than previous vintages. An underlying lime zest aromatic ties these aromas together. |
| PALATE |
Surprisingly soft and rounded (supple is a word I like to use about this wine) for a young Riesling the acid plays mainly along the back palate with a gentle tweak to the sides of the mouth (indicating well-integrated, natural acidity). Abundant tropical fruits and floral notes bounce on the palate but the finish is all lingering limes and fresh squeezed lemons. |
GENERAL TECHNICAL
NOTES |
Oh, the saga of the 2008 wine grape harvest in the Clare Valley!! Near perfect ripening (except for lack of moisture) heralded a possibly outstanding season but one of unusually early ripening. Our two riesling parcels were harvested a full month earlier than 2007 but this proved a blessing as our delicate riesling fruit escaped the horrors of a record-breaking heatwave in March (2 weeks of 35+ degree heat.) |
