Claymore Wines General Manager, Carissa Major, was announced a finalist in the 2017 Australian Women in Wine Awards

Claymore Wines General Manager, Carissa Major, has been announced a finalist in the award category of Workplace Champion of Change, she is the only finalist from the Clare Valley!

On Tuesday 22nd August The Fabulous Ladies’ Wine Society together with the AWIWA Advisory Board announced the finalists of the 2017 Australian Women In Wine Awards.

The eight awards on offer this year attracted a record number of entries.

AWIWA Board member and CEO of Oliver’s Taranga writes;

“So much talent across the width and breadth of Australia’s wine region regions, so many women really pushing the boundaries and achieving world class results. Very proud to be able to shine the light on these stellar women.”

“I am humbled to be awarded a finalist in these prestigious awards, it is a pleasure to be afforded the recognition of a ‘Workplace Champion of Change’ but I can’t accept the recognition that this award shines on me without acknowledging that I have surrounded myself with people that push me to be the best that I can be (and in turn each other) and that also display a very real respect for this business and each other.” Carissa Major comments.

“The work of The Fabulous’ Ladies Wine Society in curating these awards, among everything else that they do, is of great value in highlighting the work of some of the amazing and inspirational women in our industry. The Women in Wine awards affords everyone the opportunity to get a bit excited and make some noise about gender equality and acceptance of diversity, in general, in the workplace.“

The two other finalists in this award are Professor Eileen Scott (Adelaide University) and Kendall Clements-Virag (Pernod-Ricard). “It is truly a privilege to be nominated among such esteemed peers.” Says Carissa. “Unfortunately, I cannot be present at the awards in London but we (my Claymore team and I) will be watching the awards live in Clare on Tuesday 26th September. Whatever the outcome, it has been an honour to have been awarded a finalist in this category.”
