Claymore Wines to host Liverpool FC legend Robbie Fowler aka ‘God’ with the launch of the second ‘Signature Series’ in the Clare Valley in February 2018!

Claymore Wines’ passion for great reds continues with the launch of the second Signature Series, named in honour of Liverpool Football Club Legend, Robbie Fowler. This match-up between two of the greatest reds of all time is set to take place next month, with former striker Robbie Fowler, following in the footsteps of Ian Rush in 2016.

Claymore Wines is very proud to host former  Liverpool living legendFC player, Robbie Fowler, also known as ‘God’, at their Clare Valley Cellar Door and Boot Room Barrel Store. This launch will celebrate Claymore Wines’ relationship and passionlove for the Liverpool Football Club, and dedication to making great outstanding red wine.

“Following the success of our inaugural Signature Series release, we are proud to welcome the 2014 Robbie Fowler Signature Series Shiraz to the stable, a more than fitting tribute for a player of Robbie’s stature,” said Claymore General Manager Carissa Major.

“This is a true celebration of the synergy that is our partnership with the Liverpool Football Club - the ultimate package for lovers of great reds. This is the absolute best selection of our shiraz labelled in honour of a true Liverpool FC legend known as God himself!”.

Robbie Fowler is renowned for his ruthlessness in front of a goal. He scored the (then) fastest ever Premiership hat-trick against Arsenal in 1994/95 in 4 minutes and 33 seconds. and Tthe season then ended with him picking up his first piece of silverware as the Club lifted the League Cup. In December 1996, Fowler scored his 100th goal for the Club, which saw him score four goals in a 5-1 win over Middlesbrough. He also played a major role in Liverpool winning the treble in 2000-01 scoring in two major finals, the League Cup and UEFA Cup. He captained the side and scored in the League Cup win over Birmingham City in Cardiff.

break the record for quickest Liverpool century (reaching the milestone 1 game sooner than fellow living legend Ian Rushovertake a previous record set by Red’s great Ian Rush. Robbie went on to be the sixth-highest goalscorer in the history of the Premier League with 183 goals. Rush had scored 346 goals in 660 games for Liverpool, so Fowler didn't quite manage to surpass his tally—but Rush's successor did break one of his Reds records by reaching 100 goals for the club in a 5-1 victory over Middlesbrough at Anfield in December of 1996.

Fowler's four-goal haul ensured that he reached his Liverpool century just one game quicker than Rush had.

Possibly Robbie’s most iconic moment in the red strip was his speedy The hat-trick scored against Arsenal  was recalled by The Guardian's Sachin Nakrani: "Oon the 28 August 1994 where (as recalled by the Guardian’s Sachin Nakrani),  “Liverpool not only beat Arsenal 3-0 via a first-half blitz, but history was made and God was born."

As Robbie prepares to take over the Signature Series mantel, it’s fitting that he does so from Ian Rush - a player who preceded Fowler as a hero among LFC fans, and one who expressed delight at leaving Liverpool in the striker’s capable hands.

“Having spent my formative years in Liverpool I am incredibly proud to be able to welcome Robbie – a true scouser – to my very special part of the wine world and honour him and my club with this outstanding red,” noted Claymore Wines’ proprietor Anura Nitchingham.

"I leave Liverpool in good hands," Rush claimed. "Robbie will probably eclipse all that I achieved at Liverpool."

The new Signature Series will be limited to just two barrels of Claymore’s ultra-premium, single vineyard 2014 vintage Shiraz from the award winning Penwortham vineyard, just south of Clare in the heart of Clare Valley.

The Shiraz grapes were harvested in mid-March 2014; a dry, and low yielding season with warm days and cool nights produced fruit with exceptional concentration and flavour. The grapes were cold soaked on skins for 36 hours to build brightness and flavour depth, fermented on skins for 25 days, pressed and then matured in new French oak and a combination of second season French and American Oak barrels for 36 months. At the end of multiple and careful grading processes, the very best barrels from this outstanding vintage were hand selected to become Claymore’s second ultra-premium Signature Series label.

Marnie Roberts, Claymore’s winemaker who has worked in leading wineries across Australia and in California, says the 500 individually numbered bottles will be a very special investment for wine and sports lovers alike.

“It showcases the best of what the Clare Valley can offer whilst honouring select individuals who have influenced or inspired our brand over the past 20 years. All the characters of Clare Valley Shiraz are treated with attention to detail and respect, from vineyard to bottle,” Marnie said.

As a feature s part of the launch, Robbie Fowler and a select few fans will be taking part in an intimate blending masterclass session in the Boot Room Barrel Store at the Claymore winery. This will be a great chanceunique chance  forRobbie and LFC  his fans and Fowler to immerse themselves in the process of making wines and a really specialonce in a lifetime opportunity for fans to spend one on one time with their Godly idol.
