In December 1996, Fowler scored his 100th goal for the Club, which saw him score four goals in a 5-1 win over Middlesbrough. Robbie went on to be the sixth-highest goalscorer in the history of the Premier League with 183 goals. Rush had scored 346 goals in 660 games for Liverpool, so Fowler didn't quite manage to surpass his tally—but Rush's successor did break one of his Reds records by reaching 100 goals for the club in a 5-1 victory over Middlesbrough at Anfield in December of 1996.
Fowler's four-goal haul ensured that he reached his Liverpool century just one game quicker than Rush had.

As Robbie prepares to take over the Signature Series mantel, it’s fitting that he does so from Ian Rush - a player who preceded Fowler as a hero among LFC fans, and one who expressed delight at leaving Liverpool in the striker’s capable hands.
“Having spent my formative years in Liverpool I am incredibly proud to be able to welcome Robbie – a true scouser – to my very special part of the wine world and honour him and my club with this outstanding red,” noted Claymore Wines’ proprietor Anura Nitchingham.
"I leave Liverpool in good hands," Rush claimed. "Robbie will probably eclipse all that I achieved at Liverpool."
The new Signature Series will be limited to just two barrels of Claymore’s ultra-premium, single vineyard 2014 vintage Shiraz from the award winning Penwortham vineyard, just south of Clare in the heart of Clare Valley.
The Shiraz grapes were harvested in mid-March 2014; a dry, and low yielding season with warm days and cool nights produced fruit with exceptional concentration and flavour. The grapes were cold soaked on skins for 36 hours to build brightness and flavour depth, fermented on skins for 25 days, pressed and then matured in new French oak and a combination of second season French and American Oak barrels for 36 months. At the end of multiple and careful grading processes, the very best barrels from this outstanding vintage were hand selected to become Claymore’s second ultra-premium Signature Series label.
Marnie Roberts, Claymore’s winemaker who has worked in leading wineries across Australia and in California, says the 500 individually numbered bottles will be a very special investment for wine and sports lovers alike.
“It showcases the best of what the Clare Valley can offer whilst honouring select individuals who have influenced or inspired our brand over the past 20 years. All the characters of Clare Valley Shiraz are treated with attention to detail and respect, from vineyard to bottle,” Marnie said.
