The gently spicy edge to the blossom aromas is coupled with a whisper of musk, the palate adding to the appeal of the bouquet with its display of lime and lemon zest palate. There is power to the base, yet no hint of extraction. Really enjoyable, and great value

Highly acclaimed Clare Valley producer Claymore Wines is excited to have reached platinum status, celebrating twenty years of production with the release of the 2018 vintage of Joshua Tree Riesling.
Dark Side of The Moon Shiraz, another of their iconic wines, turns twenty with the 2018 to be released in the next couple of years. However, they will celebrate that birthday when they get to it. For now, the focus is on revelling in the 2018 vintage rieslings, paying particular homage to the birthday boy; Joshua Tree.
At this special time Claymore Wines are pleased to announce that Nathan Norman, who has been been working within the company as the assistant winemaker, now steps up to takes the reins as Winemaker.
Nathan is an eighth-generation wine maker who grew up on his Grandfathers farm at Angle Vale. His formative years were spent at Peter Lehman Wines where he ‘cut his teeth’ in the winery after leaving school. He then travelled to Sicily, England and Spain for vintages, eventually returning to work with Tin Shed Wines for the better part of a decade. In his new appointment at Claymore Wines, Nathan will have oversight of all Vineyard and Winemaking operations.
He has been involved in crafting some great wines in previous roles and is looking forward to taking over the winemaking reins at Claymore. Given it is Claymore’s twentieth year of production, he is particularly excited about stamping his mark on the twentieth releases as they roll out, starting with the twentieth vintage of the Joshua Tree riesling in September.
Nathan, who has a particular fondness for the grape that is riesling, is super “chuffed” to be the Winemaker who gets to “hang his hat” on this vintage.
Claymore also welcomes Steve McKenzie to the production team as Vineyard Leading Hand and Cellar Assistant, he joins them with a wealth of experience from Quelltaller Estate, another iconic winery from the Clare Valley.
Regarding his new position, Nathan says, “It’s a family thing. My dad, my brother, my sister, my grandad… Winemaking is something that is in my blood. To be here in the Clare Valley, the Riesling capital of the world; well I wouldn’t have it any other way!”
Ian Gray and Pamela Honeysett have recently returned from their epic adventure as our prize-winners to the Claymore Wines Members Club annual competition. This competition sees two lucky people jetted off to Liverpool for three days of sight-seeing, including an Anfield Stadium tour, lunch in the Liverpool FC cafe and a corporate package to see our adored Reds play a home game at Anfield, including a ride home in the Liverpool FC players team bus back to their hotel, a noted highlight for them both!
Ian and Pamela extended their trip to see some of what Europe has to offer. While they concur, that after being dazzled by Liverpool, some of what they saw was a bit underwhelming. However, one of their highlights was in Switzerland where they enjoyed a bottle of Claymore ‘Dark Side if the Moon’ that Ian had carefully brought along for such an occasion.
Here is a photo of their balcony view in Switzerland where they thought it was a perfect setting to enjoy their favourite Claymore drop.
Ian comments, “We would like to thank Claymore Wines so much for the trip experience you have made available through the promotion. Obviously, there can only be one winning couple and Pamela and I were very, very fortunate to have our name drawn.
Pamela and I are just so happy to be part of the Claymore family and look forward to a long association of enjoying the wines and events.”
We are thrilled to add Ian and Pamela to our Claymore Family and also look forward to a long association with them both.
