Wine Maker - Marnie Roberts
Grape Variety - 100% Riesling
Region - 100% Estate Grown Watervale, Clare Valley
Colour - Lightest yellow with green hues.
Bouquet - Fresh and juicy Bickford lime cordial with freshly zested lime overlay hints of soap flakes and aromatic citrus blossom.
Palate - The balance between the fresh minerally acids and the zesty lime juice is spot on! This wine has a lingering presence on the palate showing crunchy tart crab-apple with hints of grapefruit. It finishes pleasantly dry with the length presenting a delicious mouth-filling fruit presence.
General - The 2017 vintage had the perfect setup. Wet spring, a mild summer and then a final burst of sunshine to finish ripening the fruit. It was a spectacular year in the Clare Valley, particularly for the Riesling. The 2017 Joshua Tree is a fabulous regional Riesling with no added acid or finings.
Serve With - The generous, appealing fruit characters in this wine, coupled with balanced acidity make for a very accessible drinking Riesling. In other words – a cracker stand-alone Rizza that will shine with or without food. My pick for this one is succulent lemon butter scallops.
