Winemaker - Marnie Roberts
Grape Variety - 100% Tempranillo
Region - 100% Clare Valley
Colour - Bright plum hue
Bouquet - This one displays inviting, subtle perfume of violets, rosehips and granite. Delicate yet lifted, reminiscent of grandma’s rose bath powder with some plum and savoury notes.
Palate - Primary varietal fruit flavours show as soft, juicy white flesh plum and wild rhubarb and while this is an extremely approachable little number, it possesses a persistent, savoury line. An attractive and creamy mid palate weight.
General - As with its partner release, the Blackbird Sangiovese, this all about artisan, small batch winemaking that were hand plunged twice daily in small open fermenters before gentle basket pressing. Wanting the fruit to do the talking, only older oak is used for the 15 month maturation.
Named in honour of Claymore Wines’ General Manager this inaugural release Tempranillo celebrates the idea that life is the best education one can possibly have.
Serve With - Smoky charred Octopus with radicchio and honey ham salad.
Vineyard - Situated in the northern end of the region this wine derives from a small block in the Springfarm / Clare proper region located due east of the Clare township.
